Adam Cole said that he has to have surgery, but many fans still doubt if he is actually injured. Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that there is very little doubt backstage in AEW about his injury. All signs point to this being a very real situation.

Due to the nature of pro wrestling, many questioned if Adam Cole’s injury was legitimate. DPW announcing his match against Chris Danger following the injury (they’d later say the match is off due to injury), and the masked men showing up at the end of Dynamite led some to suspect he wasn’t injured.

The word within AEW is that he is legitimately scheduled for surgery and will be out for quite some time. When seen, he was wrapped and had crutches, and required help traveling. So if for some reason he wasn’t hurt, everyone else isn’t in on it.

The report mentioned that there was optimism among the AEW roster that he had just suffered an ankle sprain. However, it seems that this is not the situation. After the Dynamite Grand Slam, Adam Cole went to the hospital and was later observed using crutches.

There’s currently no information regarding whether AEW intends to include Adam Cole in the storyline through video segments, or if he’ll be included in upcoming shows. It’s not likely that he will make any live events during his hiatus, so anything with Cole would likely be pre-taped.

We’re hoping that Adam Cole makes a return to AEW television very soon, but his injury is very legit. He will sadly need surgery, and that will put him out of action for a long time. A lot of things in pro wrestling may be a work, but there is no faking Adam Cole’s status.
