Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s influence in the world of professional wrestling is certainly without comparison, as he has accomplished so much in his time in the industry. He had a great deal of love and respect for his father, even if they didn’t always see eye to eye. That said, it appears his father Rocky Johnson didn’t tell him that pro wrestling is scripted.

The Rock is a third-generation WWE Superstar, being the son of Rocky Johnson and grandson of High Chief Peter Maivia. From a very early age, The Rock was involved in the business, even before he became a wrestler on his own.

While speaking to Bill Apter, pro wrestling legend Tony Atlas, who used to tag team with Rocky Johnson, revealed that Rocky Johnson had no intention of telling The Rock that pro wrestling was scripted. It wasn’t until The Rock became a wrestler that he knew the business was scripted.

“No, he wasn’t. I think he didn’t get smart to the business until he actually got in it. Kayfabe wasn’t just for the fans, it was for family too. I was married to women that I never smartened up (…) We didn’t know how long we were gonna be with this woman, so we didn’t want this woman to get p*****off and go and expose the business and destroy our money.”

The Rock also recently launched a huge campaign to help those affected by the Maui wildfires. Many also believed The Rock was a girl when he was a child. We’ll have to wait and see when The Rock will return to WWE television somewhere down the line.

What’s your view on what Tony Atlas said? Are you shocked The Rock’s father didn’t tell him that pro wrestling was scripted? Let us know in the comments!
