Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38 last year and wasted no time in making an impact after defeating Seth Rollins in his return match. Rhodes has certainly become a megastar in WWE and now it appears Rhodes’ explained why he loves suiting up so much.

The American Nightmare has been on a roll after his return in 2022, as his stock continues to rise with every passing week. Rhodes also makes it a point to be dressed to the nines every week on WWE television, as he loves suiting up.

While speaking on After the Bell, Cody Rhodes said that he’s had different outlooks on ‘dress for the job you want’ and then would go on to explain that his affinity towards suits comes from living his gimmick.

“When I went on the independent scene, I’d be wearing a suit. That on an independent level was very different. A lot of people hadn’t seen that and it was a gimmick I think, if I can use that word. It was a gimmick. It was part of a character more or less. It just slowly went from that to I think the next gimmick was, ‘Hey, I want to look like I’m in charge.

It was no longer a gimmick. I loved it. I loved the culture of fashion at a wrestling event. It may be my visits to New Japan, where you see Okada showing up to the building in a Ferrari [with an] immaculate suit. Sanada [wearing] immaculate tailored suit… They were trying to be on an NBA level of fashion. NFL draft level. I’ve just always loved that. It’s no longer a gimmick.”

Cody Rhodes is set to be a part of the Grayson Waller Effect at the WWE Payback Premium Live Event next month. We will have to wait and see how that event will turn out.
