WWE usually tapes their NXT Level Up show every Tuesday after NXT. That was not the case after NXT Heatwave this week, because the brand mysteriously skipped out on taping matches for their Friday night show.

In a departure from the norm, the NXT Level Up tapings, which typically follow the live NXT show on Tuesday nights, were nowhere to be found. Instead, WWE treated the live crowd to a trio of dark matches.

In the first of these dark matches, Thea Hail and Brianna Covington locked horns in an intense battle that ended with Hail securing victory via a Kimura submission. Tyler Bate stepped into the ring against Jonah Neisenbaum that saw Bate pull out victory with a rebound lariat.

The final dark match of the evening saw Axiom go head-to-head with Joe Coffey, with Axiom emerging victorious via the golden ratio. While fans in attendance seemed to enjoy those matches, they were not NXT Level Up contests, which caused some to question what is going on.

We haven’t seen any sign that NXT Level Up is done, but those viewership numbers are also hidden behind streaming services. We have no way to tell how many fans tune in to watch that show every week, but it can’t be more than NXT brings in on Tuesday nights.

NXT Level Up’s last episode aired on August 18th, and they saw Oro Mensah defeat Ikemen Jiro in the main event match. Only time will tell what WWE does with the show this week, since they didn’t tape matches when they usually do.
