Ryback left WWE after injuries caused a real problem for his career. There were rumors about backstage heat after that, but Ryback claims any of those stories are from WWE plants. At this stage in his career, he is ready to come back, and he has a lot to prove. That being said, he might not have reached his true potential in WWE.

Brock Lesnar is a force to be reckoned with, and that has never changed. Even while Ryback was training to become a WWE Superstar, the company was eyeing someone who could fill in for Lesnar’s gigantic presence on the roster.

During his recent live show, Ryback stated that he was told while he was in WWE’s developmental program that Johnny Ace told him that he was going to be the next Brock Lesnar. That might be a tall task for anyone, but a younger Ryback was up for the challenge.

“I remember one day I went to them and I said I would really, like WWE had really high expectations. John Laurinaitis came down in front of the whole class, cut a promo on me saying like I was supposed to be the next Brock, and they wanted me up there already. I had only been down there for a couple of months, and I wasn’t being taught anything. I was literally just getting like boot camp. It was crazy. A lot of guys quit. They shouldn’t handle it, and I just kept showing up and working hard because I knew what the goal was and no one was going to take that away from me.”

Ryback’s time in WWE did not amount to anything close to Brock Lesnar. Although the Big Guy did make a nice paycheck from WWE for a while, he never had Vince McMahon backing a money truck up to his house to convince him to stick around longer.

We’ll have to see if Ryback ever makes a return to the ring. He claims to be 100% ready, but he’s waiting for his doctor to medically clear him. That might be a bit of time, but at least Ryback has plenty of stories from his time in WWE.
