Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, and his influence in the industry is undeniable. He has managed to keep himself relevant no matter what and he even managed to win the United States Title on Smackdown this week. Now it appears he finally commented on the matter.

Santos Escobar was set to challenge Austin Theory for the United States Title this week on Friday Night Smackdown. However, that did not happen as he suffered an injury ahead of the match and ended up being replaced by Rey Mysterio.

Rey Mysterio squared off against Austin Theory for the title. The Master of the 619 overcame the odds and defeated Theory to become the new United States Champion, as the LWO and the fans in attendance celebrated.

While speaking to Kayla Braxton on the SmackDown Lowdown on Peacock, the new United States Champion made it clear he was ecstatic with his win and stated that the title was not his – but the LWO’s title.

”Today was a roller coaster ride from the moment I arrived to the moment which is now. I was so angry, and my frustration and my anger took over that when I went out and had that match with Austin, I wasn’t really thinking about the final consequence, which is [being United States Champion]. My team, the LWO, this ain’t my title. This is our title. This is the LWO’s title.

Oh my god, this is our unity right here. This is what unites us together. When you have guys like Austin Theory, which we all run across at some point in our lifetime, you have to put an end to that, and I think tonight was the perfect night to put an end to Austin Theory.”

Fans were certainly delighted to see the WWE Hall Of Famer become the champion after so many years. We will have to wait and see what will have planned for him after his major win.
