Sonya Deville made her comeback to WWE television back in January 2020 in a non-wrestling role. Fast forward two years, Deville is now an active in-ring competitor, but that’s on hold now. It appears Deville will be lucky to return in six months after her ACL tear.

Sonya Deville has managed to stay relevant in WWE after signing with the company in 2015, as she has been involved in some solid storylines over the years. She had a tremendous moment after winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles last month as well.

However, Sonya Deville suffered an ACL tear after injuring herself on the July 28th episode of SmackDown. While peaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provide an update on Sonya Deville after her injury.

Dave Meltzer noted Sonya Deville would be lucky to return in six months after her ACL tear, as it generally takes much longer for someone to come back from an ACL tear injury.

“A couple of weeks after winning it, her first championship in WWE, she blows out her knee. She has not had a serious injury in her entire time in WWE, and now the injury is going to put her out. Reconstructive surgery is Tuesday, that’s usually a 7 or 8 month process, 6 if you are lucky, but 7 or 8 months. They are going to have to change plans for that tag team title, come up with new plans and the whole bit.”

Sonya Deville also released a video statement regarding her injury and made it clear the timing is bitter. Regardless, we wish Deville a speedy recovery and hope she returns as soon as possible in order to do what she loves the most.
