Roman Reigns is still riding a big wave of momentum after SummerSlam, as he is still the Tribal Chief and Undisputed Universal Champion. That being said, even the Head of the Table suffered some wear and tear in that big match.

Roman Reigns is still the reigning WWE Universal Champion, but sustained an injury during his match at SummerSlam. Reigns defended both his championship and his status as the Tribal Chief in a match against Jey Uso, and he obviously gave it all in that match.

Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reigns suffered the injury relatively early in the match. Despite this, he continued in the Tribal Combat match, displaying his commitment even while injured.

“He’s gonna be back Friday. Roman Reigns got hurt in that match.

“Roman Reigns got hurt in the match, and I haven’t watched the beginning of the match over again, but I heard it was relatively early.

“I don’t know the nature of the injury, I just know he worked the match hurt. He worked the match hurt, he got hurt early in the match.”

Roman Reigns did not attend the press conference after SummerSlam, as Paul Heyman took his spot all by himself. That was a change of plans, because Byron Saxton actually started to originally announce both of them as a packaged deal during the conference, until he was informed that it was just the Wise Man coming out to speak with the press.

We’re hoping for the best when it comes to Roman Reigns’ physical condition. He will be on SmackDown this week for a segment, but the good news is that he doesn’t wrestle very often due to his part-time schedule.
