Gable Steveson signed with WWE years ago, but he just made his in-ring debut at NXT’s Great American Bash. That being said, he was still in RAW this week as the company traveled through his home state, and he showed up for the crowd in a big way.

More than a week following his first WWE in-ring appearance at NXT Great American Bash, Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson made an appearance in an off-air segment during the August 7th Raw event in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sadly, this didn’t air on television and it was just for the live fans.

Although the reception to Gable Steveson’s debut match against Baron Corbin, which concluded with a double count-out, received mixed reviews from fans, Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Steveson’s presence in his hometown of Minnesota garnered a notably more favorable and positive response.

“He was on the show tonight, it was not on television, but he did a big angle with Dolph Ziggler. And because it was Minneapolis, he’s from Minneapolis, he was cheered like crazy. I heard one of the biggest pops of the entire show.

“Suplexed him around the ring when Dolph Ziggler was running down, basically saying that there’s no wrestling heroes in Minneapolis, and he came out and they went into it.”

Dave Meltzer then dove into the most recent updates regarding Steveson’s intentions regarding WWE, as well as his potential inclusion in Team USA for the Wrestling World Championships scheduled to occur in Belgrade, Serbia from September 16 to 24.

“I still don’t know if he’s doing the world championships or not, and nobody’s really talked about what they’re gonna do with him next for television, but he was on the show tonight.

“That doesn’t mean he’s not training right now for the worlds. If he’s training in Minneapolis then he’s there.”

Gable Steveson seems to be settling into his role as a WWE Superstars. Only time will tell what he does next, because the sky seems to be the limit for the Olympics Gold Medalist.

It might be hard to avoid seeing Gable Steveson soon enough, as he continues his journey in WWE. After all, Triple H sees a lot of potential in him, and it’s anyone’s guess how much time he has in NXT before the main roster is ready for him.
