WWE has a lot of people on their roster who are primed and ready to make a big move, and Gable Steveson has all the tools needed to achieve greatness. The Olympic Gold Medalist is set for his WWE in-ring debut at Great American Bash, and Shawn Michaels is very happy to have that match on the card.

When asked about Gable Steveson’s first match during a media call for the Great American Bash, and if it was a bit abrupt, Shawn Michaels was quite candid. HBK said that Gable Steveson has been around NXT for a while, and he finally asked “can I do something with him?”

Shawn Michaels said he wasn’t sure if this was something that “slid off someone’s desk,” but he got permission to have Gable Steveson debut on NXT. HBK put Gable Steveson over in a big way, as comparing him to Kurt Angle, saying he might be able to surpass him as well.

“This was a trigger I wanted to see if I could pull, and we’re doing it. We’re excited about what he can do in NXT. He’s in there with a veteran like Baron Corbin, so we’re excited about it.”

It was also noted that this moment in NXT will not be bigger than Gable Steveson himself, so he is up for the challenge. Only time will tell what this means for the future of the Olympian in NXT.

Shawn Michaels also opened up about which WWE main roster Superstars he wants to see in NXT as well. Needless to say, there are few people that he would love to invite in NXT. HBK also said that they have no issues booking NXT’s women’s division.
