LA Knight made a significant impression after his debut at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on February 14th, 2021. After the beginning stages of his main roster run, fans were concerned he was doomed for failure. Thankfully, LA Knight is in a much better place now and is on the cusp of greatness. Now it appears WWE has been urged to make LA Knight a high-profile star.
The former NXT talent has become a major deal thanks to his terrific promo game and he has given fans many reasons to believe just how talented he truly is.
LA Knight has singlehandedly managed to get over despite the fact he was dealt with subpar storylines throughout his run on the main roster so far. His perseverance in Vince McMahon’s company has won him the adulation of many.
While speaking during a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the wrestling veteran stated that Knight was one of WWE’s top names when it came to merchandise sales. Mantell also urged WWE to make LA Knight a high-profile star.
“They [WWE] look at merchandise sales. This guy is number one, this female wrestler is number two, number three, [and] so on. No longer that he’s been there, he’s already number four in merchandise sales. He was number four in losing matches. He lost (…) five or six in a row. But it doesn’t matter because the fans are telling the promotion, ‘Listen, we’ll support this guy if you put him in something.’ And if you put him in something now, what’s that tell WWE? Oh, if we make him more high-profile, more merchandise will sell. I want to commend him in [sic] doing a great job.”
LA Knight’s promo on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown also received insane viewership numbers in less than day. LA Knight will be facing off against Sheamus, Cameron Grimes and Rey Mysterio in the ‘Austin Theory Invitational’ to crown the new number one contender for the United States championship. We’ll have to wait and see whether Knight will win the title in the end.
