JD McDonagh was called up to the WWE main roster as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. This was an exciting announcement for fans, especially those who followed him from NXT UK as Jordan Devlin, and NXT after that. WWE has a plan for the NXT UK standout, but they’re not rushing things.

We previously reported that BWE tweeted out, “There’s a story brewing for him. A shock factor is needed,” regarding JD McDonagh. It turns out that this is actually not the direction that WWE is going with things.

Ringside News was told that “JD McDonagh is a very promising talent and everyone notices it.” That being said, plans for him to really break out and get a big spotlight will have to wait.

A tenured member of the WWE creative team explained to us that, “with SummerSlam through Saudi being booked, he’s not in the immediate plans.”

It was also noted to us that, JD McDonagh is seen as a future star in WWE, especially within the company. The company is also “not going to debut him without a long range plan,” because “too many people get lost in the system because of that.”

At this point, “There’s no story brewing, and no ‘shock’ coming, but that’s not a bad thing for him, because we want to do it right.” Fans of JD McDonagh will likely get what they want, but WWE is not going to rush things with him.

JD McDonagh has a lot of eyes on him, but is he a future World Champion? Sound off in the comments to weigh in on this story!
