WWE Using NXT To Change Main Roster Gimmicks

WWE has three working brands right now with RAW and SmackDown serving as the main roster. NXT is getting even more of a focus, and the company plans to use that brand for another reason to help rehab main roster gimmicks.

Baron Corbin was featured on NXT in a segment where he burned up all of his former gimmicks. This will apparently be a trend, because WWE will be doing this with a few more Superstars along the way.

During Wrestling Observe Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Baron Corbin’s fresh coat of paint in NXT. He also stated that this will be the plan for a few more Superstars in the future.

“He’s a regular now, and there’s gonna be more people like that.”

It is apparent that Baron Corbin’s presence in NXT is bigger there than it is on the main roster. Only time will tell what they can do with his character to ensure that his return to the main roster will be seen as important.

WWE wants to beef up NXT, because they have television rights deals coming up. We will keep a close eye on this situation to see what they do next to freshen up the company’s developmental brand, and the Superstars they send there.
