On March 23, IMPACT Wrestling announced that IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James would not be able to compete at the highly anticipated Impact Sacrifice event. James was scheduled to defend her title against Jordynne Grace but had to be pulled after suffering broken rib.
It wasn’t just the Sacrifice event that James had to withdraw from. She was also slated to defend her title at IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United against Miyu Yamashita, Gisele Shaw, and Deonna Purrazzo. This was obviously a frustrating and disappointing development for James, who was undoubtedly looking forward to these events.
Mickie James ended up relinquishing the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship. It is also to be noted that she has not competed in a match since the February 26 IMPACT TV tapings.
Thankfully, Mickie James eventually recovered from her injury. The pro wrestling legend took to Twitter and announced that she will be making her in-ring return on Saturday, July 8 to wrestle independent star Aurora Teves at the Association Biterroise de Catch (Biterroise Wrestling Association) in France for their International Wrestling Festival.
I can’t wait to go to France!!! My 1st match back from injury is a real test against @aurorateves & going international!!!! Then our 1st real VACATION in a very Looooooong time. So excited babe @RealNickAldis !!!! LFG!
We will have to wait and see how the former IMPACT Knockouts Champion will perform in her in-ring return. After all, fans are just happy to see their favorite legend return to the ring soon.
