Dominik Mysterio has become a mainstay of the main roster and WWE television since making his debut back in 2019 and his growth has been nothing short of remarkable since then. He also had a solid feud with Seth Rollins back in 2020. Now it appears he was initially going to work in NXT after his feud with Rollins ended.

Dominik Mysterio made his in-ring debut against The Visionary at SummerSlam 2020, in a match that truly impressed fans and pro wrestlers alike. Even in defeat, Mysterio won over people.

While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Dominik Mysterio talked about WWE’s original plans for him after SummerSlam 2020. Mysterio revealed that he was supposed to transition to NXT after his match with Rollins. It never happened and Dominik Mysterio never asked why.

When I was offered this opportunity against Seth (Rollins at SummerSlam 2020), I knew that if I turned it down, there wasn’t gonna be another opportunity like this… and my dad told me, he was like, ‘This is completely up to you. If you wanna do it,’ he goes, ‘I can’t make your decision for you’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ma do it.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know if this thing is gonna happen again or I’m gonna get the shot’ so I was like, ‘I’m gonna take it’ and he was like, ‘Alright, you think you’re ready?’ I was like, ‘We’ll see’ (he laughed). Afterwards too, I was supposed to go down to NXT and do the whole developmental thing and how the process is actually supposed to go. But, it just never happened so, and I never asked or complained.
