John Cena was the face of WWE for more than a decade and did a lot of work for the company while he was still an active WWE Superstar. He was also extremely polarizing throughout his career and had many haters. Fans rejoiced when he was squashed by Brock Lesnar a few years ago and it appears Cena readily agreed to the idea.

John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and has accomplished everyone a pro wrestler would ever want in his career. That said, there were many people who simply hated John Cena.

This was mostly during the time he was in his ‘Super Cena’ phase, where it was very rare for John Cena to lose clean. That is exactly what made Brock Lesnar squashing John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 cathartic for many disgruntled fans.

While speaking on Notsam Wrestling, John Cena talked about the aforementioned squash match. John Cena revealed that Lesnar came up with the idea of squashing him while having dinner with Steve Austin. Not only did Cena readily agree to the idea, he believes it made sense as well.

“Brock is one of the most giving performers when it’s his time, and he will make anyone look great. But I remember Brock being like, “Hey you know, I had dinner with Steve Austin last night and we came up with this idea where I just start suplexing you and don’t stop, and then beat you.” I said, ‘Yeah!’ He said, “What do you mean?” I was like, “Well, we both collectively agreed that you just beat the streak. We will ruin that if we have a 50-50 match.”

John Cena himself addressed his reputation for burying talent recently. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when the Leader of Cenation will make his return to WWE television once again.
