John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and carried the company on his back throughout the PG era. In 2017 John Cena became a part-timer in WWE and since then, he has appeared sporadically due to his busy schedule in Hollywood. He had a heated rivalry with The Rock and it appears Cena addressed whether he would face The Rock again in order to finish their trilogy.

Back in 2008 to 2009, John Cena called out The Rock for leaving WWE and going to Hollywood, while he still was actively competing in WWE. After Cena saw himself in The Rock’s shoes, he saw the error of his ways.

In 2012, the heated rivalry between John Cena and The Rock stemmed from actual animosity between the two professional wrestlers. This resulted in two iconic matches at WrestleMania 28 and 29. While The Rock beat Cena on the first occasion, Cena won the second time around.

Fans have wondered whether the two would ever square off against each other again. While speaking with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz for 92NY, John Cena talked about facing The Rock again in a match. Cena made it clear that he is just too old to compete against someone like The Rock now.

“I’m so old. I haven’t won a match in like 5 years man. And no one notices, Thank you, but if you check the stats I’m in a bit of a slump. He’s not exactly an easy opponent. I need to get someone really easy to get a win on the board before I go knocking on The Rock’s door again.”

John Cena also stated that he would not be who he is without The Rock. Regardless, John Cena and The Rock will forever have mutual respect for each other and that is all that matters. That said, fans will remain disappointed they will never face each other again and will just have to accept that now.
