Sami Zayn has not been allowed to make any trips to Saudi Arabia since the company first inked their decade-long deal with the controversial country. At first, Zayn and Malakai Black were the only two that were forbidden from going to the country. The Kingdom didn’t want Black performing with the religious imagery on his tattoos, and Zayn was banned because he is Syrian.

Sami Zayn is proud of his Syrian heritage, and he’s done a lot to help the country. His “Sami For Syria” charity has helped many people in the country have access to medical supplies and treatment that they wouldn’t have been able to attain.

WWE fans were shocked to hear that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were booked for an Undisputed Tag Team Title match at Night of Champions. This marks the first time that Zayn has been allowed to make a trip to the country.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer pointed out what changed with Sami Zayn’s situation. It isn’t the fact that he’s a champion and coming off a very hot streak with WWE, but it has more to do with international relations.

Kevin Owens was not banned from going to Saudi Arabia, but it was a personal decision. Now, he has decided to finally wrestle in Saudi Arabia, because the controversial country is letting his best friend wrestle there as well.
