WWE is always looking to try something new so that fans can remain engaged with the product. That’s why Triple H introduced a tournament to decide the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. That said, it appears that Triple H was ripped for including SmackDown stars in the tournament.

During the Backlash press conference, Triple H announced that there will be two triple threat matches on RAW with the winners taking each other on at the end of the night to determine who will represent RAW. The same thing will happen on SmackDown.

Those two winners from RAW and SmackDown will then face each other at Night Of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27th to determine a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Obviously, fans are expecting great things from the tournament.

The participants for the tournament have also been announced. While speaking on The Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette talked about WWE’s plans to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion. Cornette ripped Triple H for including SmackDown stars in the tournament.

“We can’t even get a tournament with legitimate matches and eliminations among top people? We have to have this triple-threat h********? But he just said across both brands. How does that work then if the guy is exclusive to RAW? If one of the SmackDown people wins it then it’s been drafted from RAW to SmackDown. Do they have to go back? Or they’ve been drafted or they were already on SmackDown to begin with, they now automatically would go to RAW. Why are you giving SmackDown people a chance at a title that’s gonna be exclusive to RAW to begin with?”

AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, Bobby Lashley, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz, Sheamus, Austin Theory, Damian Priest, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor will face each other to determine the new Champion. We’ll have to wait and see who will win the tournament in the end.

What do you think of what Jim Cornette said? Do you agree with him? Let us know in the comments!
