Matt Cardona was released from WWE, and that shut down decade of Zack Ryder in the company. He went out and did his own thing, claiming championships on the way as well. Now, it seems that he is done with Impact Wrestling as well.

Matt Cardona has appeared for AEW, Impact Wrestling, the NWA, and so many other companies since WWE let him go. The Broski is 100% a free agent right now, from the look of things, because he’s done with Impact Wrestling.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that Matt Cardona hasn’t been around Impact Wrestling for a very good reason. In the end, it all came down to a deal, and that just couldn’t be worked out.

Fightful has learned that Cardona is finished with IMPACT Wrestling for the time being. Cardona had worked with IMPACT for over two years without a contract, and the company was hopeful to ink him to a deal that would guarantee dates. While Cardona was happy with the idea of maintaining the agreed upon dates, but preferred to do it on the same handshake deal they’d had prior. However, that wasn’t made an option.

It was also noted that, “IMPACT has been a little more adamant in signing deals, as we saw Nick Aldis return to the company on a short-term contract recently. Sources familiar with the situation said there was no drama between IMPACT and Cardona, and that the two sides are open to doing business together again in the future. Cardona had been adamant that he’d be open to returning, but on a handshake deal again.”

Matt Cardona has worked hard to create a name for himself in the pro wrestling business. His name alone can draw fans to a card, but it seems that Impact Wrestling wasn’t able to secure a deal for his services.

Only time will tell if Matt Cardona makes a return to Impact Wrestling. He’s surprised fans with his random drop-ins before, especially in GCW. Now, this might just get more WWE rumors swirling, because the company is talking to a few people about coming in.

What’s your take on Matt Cardona’s future in pro wrestling? Do you think that he needs to go back to WWE? Sound off in the comments!
