CM Punk always manages to make headlines no matter what he does and this doesn’t always work out in his favor. The Second City Saint is currently away from AEW television and fans seem to have forgotten about him. Now it appears that Konnan explained why fans don’t chant for CM Punk in AEW.

CM Punk has not been seen since All Out last year and fans wondered when he would be back. It was then reported that The Second City Saint will be returning to AEW programming as the main attraction for their new show AEW Collision, which will be two-hour show.

CM Punk chants used to be all the rage following his exit from WWE back in 2014. After all, fans would almost always hijack shows with CM Punk chants and made their intentions clear.

That said, fans have not really been chanting for CM Punk in AEW. While speaking during a mailbag episode of K100, Konnan talked about CM Punk’s absence from AEW. Konnan stated that he believes fans no longer chant for CM Punk because when Punk left AEW, he was not hot, unlike the time he walked out on WWE.

“There could be something to do that. But I do think, like I stated previously, when he left WWE, he left very hot. And when he left AEW, he didn’t leave as hot. I think that’s why they were chanting his name [in WWE].”

Saraya also wants the AEW locker room to find common ground with CM Punk. We will have to wait and see how CM Punk will be received by fans and pro wrestlers alike once he returns next month.

What’s your take on what Konnand said? Do you agree with him? Sound off in the comments!
