CM Punk & Colt Cabana’s Beef Started Over Grabbing Pizza With WWE Superstars

CM Punk is set to make his AEW return by all reports, and it seems that he’s trying to do so with a fresh start. Colt Cabana and CM Punk used to be great friends, but that ended in big way prior to Punk signing with AEW. Now we have a bit more insight on what started that beef in the first place.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana were involved in a terrible lawsuit with WWE doctor Chris Amaan. In the end, Punk and Cabana won, but it took a huge toll on their friendship.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that CM Punk and Colt Cabana’s beef actually started in a very strange way. It turns out that Cabana grabbed some pizza with Pac, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn several years ago while they were in the middle of that lawsuit. Word got back to CM Punk, and that didn’t sit too well with him.

“Okay, so the show on Monday when we were talking about the irony of the Punk thing and the thing that started all of this, which was when Punk and Cabana had their falling out when Cabana going to the show. Anyways, I’ve been told that the story is essentially correct, but it wasn’t.”

“Cabana didn’t go to a WWE show. He actually went out for pizza with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and PAC a couple of years ago and that’s what caused the start of everything basically because he [Punk] felt that they shouldn’t have contact with anyone in WWE because of the lawsuit. Cabana went for pizza with guys he’s known on the independent scene for years and years and was good friends with.”

CM Punk and Colt Cabana are still working for Tony Khan, but Cabana isn’t a regular performer on AEW television anymore. He has been relegated to ROH, but that doesn’t mean he can’t stop by AEW television.

We’ll have to see if CM Punk and Colt Cabana bury the hatchet. It would take a lot of pizza for that to happen, but perhaps one day they will come to that agreement. If anything, it would certainly do wonders to eliminate some of the tension.
