WWE’s Backlash event is going down on May 6th in Puerto Rico, and fans are starting to see that card come together. One match really seemed to surprise fans, because it was booked without any build at all.

Seth Rollins and Omos were booked out of the blue to face each other in a singles match. That announcement confused fans, because Rollins and Omos have had nothing to do with each other on television yet.

Ringside News asked around about Seth Rollins and Omos’ match at Backlash. We asked a tenured member of the creative team about the logic behind this encounter, and we received another question in response, “who said there was logic behind this?”

We also asked if this match could be a punishment of some kind. After all, rumors persist that Seth Rollins walked out during the RAW after WrestleMania. We were told that there is no heat on Seth Rollins at all, in fact “he’s far far away from being punished, not even remotely close.”

During his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Freddie Prinze Jr added even more fuel to the fire. He said that Seth Rollins was so upset about Vince McMahon changing the plan that he dropped his microphone and walked out of the Raw after WrestleMania.

“They played a commercial during his intro, and then we could kind of hear him having a freak-out on some … production people. He was going ‘Why is there a commercial?!’ You couldn’t really hear what he was saying. You could just tell he was mad.”

“He said, ‘What the hell is going on?!’ I saw that coming out of his mouth,” Prinze added. “I think he was more pissed than pissed at them. I think he was pissed when he went backstage at whoever did that. But if I was him, I would’ve been just as angry, and I thought the way he dealt with it was so hardcore and awesome. Instead of cutting a promo, he just throws the mic out of the ring and walked out — and walked out of the friggin’ show.”

Seth Rollins and Omos are both coming off big WrestleMania matches. Rollins beat Logan Paul in a banger of a match, and Brock Lesnar also defeated Omos in the opening match of WrestleMania Sunday.

We will have to see how things pan out for Seth Rollins vs Omos. Those two could surprise fans with their performance, but a great match will likely depend on how good Rollins can make Omos look during their match.

WWE is expected to shoot some kind of angle for Seth Rollins and Omos on RAW this week. Only time will tell how they book that segment to give the match some kind of build. At this time, WWE has just randomly booked this match without any reason behind it.

What’s your take on Seth Rollins vs Omos at Backlash? Do you think that this match should have waited until they had a chance to build to it? Sound off in the comments!
