Dustin Rhodes may be nearing the end of his in-ring career, but his recent run with AEW has been one of the best of his 35-year career. In a recent interview with The Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Rhodes discussed the AEW match that reignited his passion for wrestling.

Rhodes cited his brother vs. brother showdown with Cody Rhodes at AEW’s Double or Nothing 2019 as the moment he fell back in love with pro wrestling. He also talked about the importance of the match in proving doubters wrong at his former employer, WWE.

According to Rhodes, he originally wanted the match to take place at WWE’s grandest stage, WrestleMania. However, he was told that the match “was not good enough” for the event. Rhodes revealed that he was “pissed about it not happening,” but following the match taking place at Double or Nothing, he feels that “they proved them [WWE] wrong.”

Rhodes also revealed that he has been keeping an eye on his brother’s progression in WWE. While Cody has returned to WWE, Rhodes has remained with AEW, where he continues to be a valuable member of the roster.
