WWE saw Sasha Banks and Naomi walk out of the company in May 2022, and they haven’t looked back. Both of their contracts are up, but only one of them is a free agent. That is a very interesting situation.

Mercedes Mone ended up in NJPW, where she became their women’s champion. While Trinity Fatu has been backstage at wrestling events, she hasn’t gotten in the ring on television yet. That doesn’t mean that interest wasn’t there.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that there was interest from NJPW to bring in Trinity Fatu. The company told STARDOM that they could bring in the former Naomi if they wanted to, but it was cost prohibitive.

The hard part about a longer commitment is that Bushiroad’s wrestling division, even though Stardom has grown greatly, has overall taken a major financial hit because of New Japan’s declines related to the pandemic, even with New Japan World up. Because of that, the wrestling division is under pressure to keep spending down. An example is that they were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal. Mone said later that her contract wasn’t expiring with this show which would indicate they’ve reached an agreement to continue and also said she wants to make Japan her new home.

Trinity Fatu would be a great addition to the STARDOM roster, but they just couldn’t make it work. We’ll have to see if things change for her and Japan, but she could also always have a place for her in WWE.

Trinity Fatu also has connections with WWE that aren’t going away. She is currently married to Jimmy Uso, and he is involved in the Bloodline which happens to be the hottest stable going in the pro wrestling world. Only time will tell if her possible WWE return sees The Ones adding The Glow to their mix.

What’s your take on Naomi’s future in pro wrestling? Do you think that she will end up in Japan? Sound off in the comments!
