CM Punk and the Elite threw down in Brawl Out, and that started a long hiatus for the former AEW World Champion. Punk hasn’t been back yet, but rumors of his return are starting to make the rounds. It turns out that Punk still hasn’t reached out to The Elite, but there is a good reason for that.

It was previously reported that CM Punk has made pitches for his return to AEW. That being said, he then followed that up with some Instagram stories to troll that report. So far, we haven’t heard anything official from AEW about Punk’s status.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that CM Punk hasn’t reached out to The Elite and apologized yet. Close friends of Punk have said that he was told not to contact them, so that really limits his ability to apologize.

Regarding the meeting scheduled to try and smooth out issues with Tony Khan, C.M. Punk, FTR and Chris Jericho, there’s nothing new on that, and we were told it had not taken place as of press time. As of the weekend there was no resolution to the situation and there are many situations and things involved.

Since I’ve been asked about this a lot, Punk has not apologized or attempted to make any direct amends to the Young Bucks, although those close to him said that’s because he’s been told not to have any contact with them and without any contact he couldn’t. Nobody has said he would if he could, or he wouldn’t, because there are people who want everyone to make amends and that was suggested by many of at least an attempt at a way.

We’ll have to see if CM Punk and The Elite are able to patch things up and do business. They could make a lot of money together, but that depends on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks’ willingness to work with the Second City Savior.

Only time will tell if CM Punk makes his return to AEW television. They could certainly use the viewership boost, because as controversial as he might be, CM Punk still draws attention.

What’s your take on CM Punk’s AEW return? Do you think it will happen sooner than later? Sound off in the comments!
