Zelina Vega’s star has been steadily rising since her return to WWE last year. She was released by WWE back in 2020 and returned the next year before taking time off again due to injury. Now it appears Vega has revealed how Rhea Ripley ended up putting her on the shelf after injuring her.

After a long hiatus because of injury, Zelina Vega made her return on a previous episode of Smackdown last year, where she came back alongside Legado Del Fantasma. Fans were just happy to see her back on WWE television.

Zelina Vega was absent from WWE television for seven months before her hiatus, as she had competed on the April 11th 2022 edition of Monday Night Raw before her injury. Reports had noted that she underwent surgery following an in-ring injury.

While speaking on the Out of Character podcast, Zelina Vega revealed that she had a ruptured implant during her match with Rhea Ripley last year. That said, Vega stated that it worked out well for her in the end.

“(I had) a ruptured implant from Rhea! But you know what? Again, I’ve said this before in a joking way; it actually worked out for the better because things happened, and it sucked at first, and now, I’m like, ‘Oh, we’re good now! They are better than ever. And everyone’s happy!’ My husband’s happy, and everyone’s happy. So, yeah, it worked out (laughs).”

Zelina Vega wants shot at Rhea Ripley’s Smackdown Women’s Title. With WWE Backlash on the horizon, perhaps Vega will get a shot at the title against Rhea Ripley – the woman who injured her in the first place.

What’s your take on Zelina Vega? Do you want her to face off against Rhea Ripley at WWE Backlash? Sound off in the comments!
