Jay White established himself as a force to be reckoned with in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he rose to the pinnacle of the industry as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. After months of speculation, White finally debuted in AEW earlier this year and shocked fans. That said, it appears that White has been criticized for not looking like a star in AEW.

Jay White made his return to AEW earlier this month and came out to help fellow Bullet Club member Juice Robinson. Together, they destroyed Ricky Starks, as Jay White laid him out with the Bladerunner.

While many fans were happy to see The Switchblade officially sign with AEW, others simply felt his return was underwhelming at best. This is largely due to the fact that White simply did not look impressive for many.

While speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan talked about Jay White’s presentation in AEW after his return. Konnan criticized the former NJPW star for not looking like a star and largely just being a great wrestler in a company full of great wrestlers.

“I’ve seen him do some good promos. He doesn’t come off like a star and the problem is that Tony [Khan] has painted himself into a corner. You know when you watch these shows like ‘Cribs’ and sh*t like that and the guy has got like 50 cars and you’re like, ‘Okay, when do you find time to drive them? Do you drive one every day, what’s the deal here?’

He’s just another great wrestler in a promotion full of great wrestlers. What’s your gimmick?” Konnan questioned. “What’s your gimmick? That you’re a part of the Bullet Club? And?’

Jay White is also set to make his in-ring debut on AEW Dynamite this week. We will have to wait and see how AEW will continue to book the Switchblade in the coming weeks, as fans want to see him booked like a proper star.

What’s your take on what Konnan said? Do you believe Jay White lacks star power? Sound off in the comments!
