CM Punk has been absent from AEW television since the infamous Brawl Out incident that resulted in several people getting suspended. While The Elite served out their suspension and returned to in-ring competition, CM Punk hasn’t been heard from since the incident.

There were rumors doing the rounds recently that suggested that “tentative plans” were in place for CM Punk to return to AEW.

In light of these rumors, Deadspin put out an article titled “CM Punk is gaslighting AEW” where the article accused CM Punk of using his feud with The Elite to get his return without having to own up to what he did. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“Certainly Punk knows the draw that any feud with him and any combination of the [Young] Bucks, [Kenny] Omega, and [Adam] Page would be, and it certainly looks like he’s playing on that to get his return without having to own up to anything he did or said, and to try and make the others the real villains in this. He’ll turn the AEW fans against those who created AEW in the first place if he has to, or he’ll die trying, before just saying he’s responsible in any way for his own exile. It’s really classic Punk,” per Deadspin.

Brandon Cutler, who is a close friend and associate of The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, responded to the Deadspin article with the tweet, “Someone gets it.” Cutler quickly deleted his tweet and has since put his Twitter account on private.

Brandon Cutler was one of several people who was suspended for a brief time period following CM Punk’s backstage altercation with The Elite.

It remains to be seen if Punk will indeed make his return in the future and how he will address his issues with The Elite. It also remains to be seen how the fans will react to Punk’s return and whether they will side with him or against him. Until then, stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
