Ric Flair is never one to keep his opinions to himself. He was at the WWE Hall of Fame this year to induct the Great Muta, but he didn’t leave Los Angeles without bit of heat on him.

Sting’s impact on pro wrestling has been felt for decades. When he made his debut for AEW during the Winter is Coming event in 2020, fans were ecstatic, and he has since gone on to prove that he can still hold his own against younger wrestlers, even in his 60s. That being said, he jumped to AEW after his WWE contract expired, and that might have left a bad taste in WWE’s mouth.

While speaking his mind on the To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair opened up about his WWE Hall of Fame speech, and why WWE didn’t appreciate what he said. It turns out that mentioning Sting, although he is a WWE Hall of Famer too, pushed WWE’s buttons.

“I didn’t hear from anybody in the WWE, but that’s not unusual.. Who else could have inducted him? I did hear that they didn’t like me bringing up Sting. But Sting’s in our Hall of Fame. I merely asked the question, ‘Are you sure that that Muta wants me over Sting?’ That’s all I said.”

Although Ric Flair had some heat on him during the ceremony, that wasn’t the case for everyone. Konnan received a tremendous amount of praise for his speech before Rey Mysterio’s induction, and that could also lead to future involvement with WWE down the line.

We’ll have to see when Ric Flair shows up on WWE television again, but it’s doubtful that they will turn him loose on a live microphone after his Hall of Fame speech went south.
