Cody Rhodes made his triumphant return to WWE last year during WrestleMania 38, where he had a solid match with Seth Rollins. Rhodes wasted no time in becoming a big deal in the company, after being away from it for over six years. That said, Cody Rhodes recently revealed if he noticed any changes since he returned to the company.

Cody Rhodes suddenly left AEW in February last year, in a moment that truly sent shockwaves across the pro wrestling world. Obviously, Rhodes was a major star in AEW and his departure was simply inconceivable.

While Cody Rhodes was gone from WWE for six years, the company underwent quite a few changes, most of which were not met with positive reception. The only exception would be Triple H becoming the head of WWE Creative after Vince McMahon’s temporary retirement last year.

While speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Cody Rhodes was asked whether he noticed any changes in WWE since his return. Rhodes claimed that he really has not seen any changes at all.

“Not for me, personally. Because of who I returned as, I have a grasp on it. The American Nightmare, the name sounds wild and ridiculous, but it’s not so much performative as much as I know who I am. There has been a trust placed in me by WWE. That may be the highest honor in all of this. For me, I haven’t noticed. I kind of chuckle when I see, I have friends in the media, ‘Such and such, this is changing, this sale might happen, this might happen.’ Being on the ground and seeing it, we just have great shows and fans seem really happy and we’ve been on this road to WrestleMania and it’s been very consistent. Nothing, personally, has changed for me or made it difficult in terms of…maybe it is, and I just don’t see it. I’ve been able to start how I did coming back at WrestleMania, especially the Raw after Mania, and I feel it was heading towards one spot and that’s the main event of this WrestleMania.”

Cody Rhodes’ words might come off as odd for fans, as WWE has definitely changed in many ways over the years. Regardless, it is ultimately Cody Rhodes’ opinion and that is what matters in the end.

Cody Rhodes was also unable to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, in a moment that broke the hearts of millions of fans. He was then brutalized by Brock Lesnar on RAW this week. WWE even offered an explanation for the attack, which many fans found flimsy at best. Regardless, it remains to be seen what WWE has planned for Rhodes’ feud with The Beast Incarnate.

What’s your take on Cody Rhodes? Do you agree with the fact that nothing has changed in WWE? Sound off in the comments!
