WWE has received criticism for not giving women proper attention. A lot of fans still believe that Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley’s match at WrestleMania 39 should have closed out night one of the show. That is not the only time WWE has neglected to push women, and it seems that a huge SummerSlam match almost didn’t go down at all.

Bianca Belair beat Becky Lynch via pinfall in the opening match of SummerSlam 2022. They had a nice 15-minute opening contest, but that match almost didn’t get on the show at all.

While speaking to Stephen A. Smith on Know Mercy, Becky Lynch dropped a bit of a surprising piece of information. Her match against Bianca Belair actually almost didn’t happen at SummerSlam, and that would have been “a problem.”

“Last year, at SummerSlam, had to fight a little bit to get a women’s title match on the show. When Logan Paul has a match and Pat McAfee has a match, and Seth Rollins doesn’t have a match, he’s been working all year. Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair almost didn’t have a match, that’s a bit of a problem. Personally, and from a work ethic standpoint, you put all of this effort into this, all year round, and when the big shows come, the big stadiums come, and there are 80,000 people, you want to receive your flowers for the hard work you put in all year round so that we can do this so that we’re on TV for 52 weeks a year and just killing the game. You don’t want somebody to take your spot, not somebody who doesn’t do this all the time.”

Ringside News exclusively reported that Endeavor is well aware that fans hate the fact that Vince McMahon is a part of the merger with UFC. At this point, they’ve already put a ton of money into this agreement, so they can’t do anything about it now.
