This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, especially thanks to the ongoing feud between the Blackpool Combat Club and The Elite. It also saw Don Callis receive a very nasty cut. Now it seems more details regarding his injury have been revealed.

During a backstage interview segment with Hangman Adam Page and Don Callis, the Blackpool Combat Club suddenly attacked both Page and Callis. In the chaos that ensued, Jon Moxley landed a forearm on Callis, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. Fans noticed that something was wrong with Callis, as he was shown with a nasty gash on his head as the segment ended.

It was previously reported that the injury was not planned and Don Callis did hit his head as he went down following Moxley’s attack. In fact, Callis received several stitches after the unfortunate accident.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez talked about Don Callis’ health status after the injury. According to Alvarez, Don Callis was not aware of a lighting rig behind him when he took the bump, causing him to go headfirst into the rig and get gashed open.

Bryan Alvarez stated that the injury was severe, and it looked like Don Callis had been hit with a hatchet. Callis’ doctor told him that the wound was so deep that his skull was visible, and he was bleeding heavily.

“In taking the bump, Don was unaware that there was a lighting rig right behind him. He went head first into the lighting rig and he got gashed open. It was described to me as looking like he was hit with a hatchet…allegedly his doctor told him it was so deep that you could see his skull, bleeding everywhere. They took him to the hospital and he was there until 3 am…He was there til 3 am because it took them that long to put his head back together.”

Bryan Alvarez clarified that Don Callis did not suffer a concussion and is resting at home. Regardless, we are glad to know that Callis did not suffer any major injury and will be fine to return on AEW television. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he returns soon.
