Ariel Helwani became a subject of a story instead of someone reporting the news when Tony Khan put him on blast after his appearance on SmackDown. This response to Helwani’s SmackDown appearance was also something that they talked about backstage in WWE.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Tony Khan’s comment about Ariel Helwani was a topic of conversation backstage at WWE by the time Elimination Chamber rolled around. They were in Montreal, Ariel Helwani’s home city, and he was naturally around.

Most of the WWE roster were aware of the Tony Khan/Ariel Helwani tweets by the time Elimination Chamber rolled around, and it was discussed among several people backstage.

Michael Cole also used that Tony Khan tweet to throw a shady comment at the AEW president during the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. This subject is obviously something that they were discussing and they had to have known that fans were doing the same.

Tony Khan brought a lot of attention to himself with that tweet at Ariel Helwani. He has not responded after Helwani made reference to Tony Khan’s alleged cocaine affinity, because that snowman comment might have hit hard for TK. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more on this still-developing story.

It’s no secret that Tony Khan is known to have a good time on Twitter. This was apparently something that they talked about backstage before Elimination Chamber as well.
