RIP Lanny

Lanny Poffo was the younger brother of Randy “Macho Man” Savage, and he was known for his high-flying wrestling style and unique poetry recitations. Throughout his long career, one that spanned from the 1970s to the 2000s, Lanny Poffo was a fixture of several major wrestling promotions, including the WWF.

Poffo started his wrestling career in the 1970s and established himself as a talented high-flyer, performing acrobatic moves that were well ahead of their time. He was known for his moonsaults, backflips, and other daredevil stunts, which made him a favorite with fans. It also earned him the nickname “The Genius.” This was thanks to his gimmick where he would recite poetry in the ring before matches.

Lanny Poffo got some acting work during his career. He was in the 1997 comedy “The Lovemaster” and the 2000’s “Ready to Rumble.”

Our thoughts are with Lanny Poffo’s family and friends during this sad time. The pro wrestling world truly lost a genius. RIP.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
