Cody Rhodes won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match last night at the Alamodome. The American Nightmare went to the distance after entering the match at number 30.

The win has given him the opportunity to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. The American Nightmare admitted during the post-event scrum that’s he’s been “very careful” using The Tribal Chief’s name.

“I’ve been very careful about saying Roman’s name. Because I knew, and I’m sure he knew. It’s one of those things when I came back on that first night I was back on RAW after WrestleMania I was pointing to my waist. I talked about it in an interview, the real story about winning the WWE Championship, the one title that’s alluded the family, and I’m sure he heard that, and I’ve watched everything that Roman’s done, and I have nothing but respect for him and to see him there at the end of the night, that’s a pretty rough scene. I have nothing but respect for Roman. You guys cover sports entertainment, you cover pro wrestling. Guys, I can’t tell you I’m the best wrestler in the world unless my name’s Roman Reigns. I’d like to think I’m #2, right, and I always say Seth is #3. Roman is undisputed, that’s the best way to put it. He’s undisputed, and if that’s the situation we’re walking into in 60 days at WrestleMania, I can’t shrivel under the lights. He’s been there before. I haven’t, and that’s gonna take everything I could possibly muster up and I could ever have, but I’ve gotta finish this story, it’s real.”

Speaking of Roman Reigns, The Tribal Chief retained his title over Kevin Owens in the main event of the show. Reigns and the rest of The Bloodline minus Sami Zayn attacked The Prized Fighter after the match. Sami shocked the world when he hit Reigns with a steel chair.
