WrestleMania 39 will be here before we know it, and the card is ready for the show of shows. The card will be loaded with top-tier talent, but The Rock will not perform this year. There are still a few huge names who might surprise us on the road to WrestleMania. Steve Austin competed at last year’s WrestleMania event against Kevin Owens, and there is a buzz that he could show up again this year. That being said, this wasn’t Austin’s only opportunity to wrestle since last year’s outing on the grandest stage of them all.

Steve Austin’s match at WrestleMania has not been hinted at on television, but it is a big topic of conversation within pro wrestling fans. It seems that there was an option for Austin at WrestleMania, but he turned it down. Now, fans are waiting to see if Steve Austin finds his way into a different match.

A tenured member of the WWE creative team confirmed to Ringside News that Steve Austin vs Brock Lesnar was the pitched match. The match was never Roman Reigns vs Steve Austin. That being said, Brock Lesnar’s return where he disrupted Bobby Lashley’s US Title match during RAW Is XXX was a clear indication that Lesnar is facing Lashley at the show of shows this time around.

WWE tried to get Steve Austin to step in the ring since WrestleMania 38 as well. We were also told that, “Austin was approached last year for SummerSlam but didn’t want to do it.”

It was not noted to us who WWE had in mind as Steve Austin’s opponent. The pitch was made, but the Texas Rattlesnake declined the offer.

Steve Austin is in great shape, and he continues proving that with his social media workout videos. Only time will tell if Steve Austin locks up with anyone at WrestleMania 39, but he will not face Brock Lesnar.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
