Shawn Michaels is undoubtedly one of the best in-ring performers to have ever stepped foot inside a WWE ring. He was touted as Mr. WrestleMania, and he truly lived up to the moniker. That being said, Michaels was recently criticized for not selling moves in the past.

However, as many fans know by now, Shawn Michaels back in the 90s was a completely different person compared to who he is now. Michaels’ backstage antics and insufferable personality is well-documented by now.

In fact, Vince McMahon claimed that Shawn Michaels owes his life to Triple H. Michaels has faced off against the best of the best the pro wrestling world has to offer. This includes his iconic matches with the likes of Kurt Angle and The Undertaker.

While speaking on The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts stated that Shawn Michaels is an exceptional performer. He then went on to criticize The Heartbreak Kid for not selling moves in the ring.

“I knew the kid was gonna make it,” Roberts said. “I didn’t know he would make it to where he did. I don’t think anybody could have [predicted that]. That was just a one-in-a-million shot that he would ever get that kind of push, but he got it for whatever reason. He was excellent, no doubt about that, but I don’t know. I don’t like it when a guy goes to the ring and doesn’t sell s**t.”

Ironically enough, may believe Shawn Michaels was overselling during his infamous match with Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam 2005. Regardless, Michaels is retired now and is focused on making NXT a great brand, and many young Superstars of tomorrow benefit from his teaching every day.
