LA Knight became the first victim of Bray Wyatt’s physical assault in 2022. Knight returned the favor by slapping Wyatt twice. He was mysteriously abducted before the December 16, 2022, edition of SmackDown as well.

Tensions between the two reached their boiling point and Knight proposed a match to settle their differences. Wyatt accepted the challenge, but promised he won’t go easy on Knight in a ‘Pitch Black Match’ at the Royal Rumble premium live event.

LA Knight recently appeared on WWE After the Bell and talked about the upcoming match. The former Million Dollar Champion said he previously didn’t know anything about the match.

“Pitch Black Match, it’s something new in the making. There was something to the point of, ‘I don’t know what the hell this is, what the hell this is going to be.’ Every indication I’ve been given is that this is going to be a kick ass street fight and be kind of in the dark. I don’t know what the lighting is going to be, how it’s going to work, what other kind of factors or elements are going to come into play. All I know is it’s going to be a fight at the Royal Rumble.”

The Pitch Black match will mark Bray Wyatt’s first televised bout since WrestleMania 37. The former Universal Champion made his non-televised in-ring return at the WWE live event in Madison Square Garden on December 26, 2022.

The Pitch Black match will be LA Knight’s first pay-per-view match on the main roster as well. The 40-year-old has previously worked PLE’s during his time in Shawn Michael’s NXT 2.0.
