Jay White is considered one of the best pro wrestlers on the planet right now, and it is not hard to see why. He made a name for himself in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where Jay White became the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and made his way to the top of the industry. His NJPW contract is almost over and after that, his future in pro wrestling is now in question. That being said, AEW had backdoor talks with Jay White.

As previously reported, Jay White is expected to leave NJPW very soon as his contract will be expiring soon. After his NJPW exit, it is highly likely he will be signing either with WWE or AEW.

Both WWE and AEW are interested in signing the Switchblade. Due to this, fans have been wondering since last week whether Jay White will end up joining either company.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Jay White had backdoor talks with AEW regarding a deal. However, as White had a 7-year contract with NJPW back then, nothing could have been done.

Jay White was absolutely, you know, backdoor approach, he was talked to in AEW. He said ‘I have a 7-year deal,’ so they never talked to him again. There’s a lot more money to make in AEW, so I’m sure there’s interest in both places[WWE & AEW].

As fans are more than aware by now, Jay White is booked in a “Loser Leaves Japan” match on February 11th against Hikuleo. By the looks of it, he is likely to lose to Hikuleo and end his run with NJPW. Then again, Hikuleo is also a guy that WWE has on their radar, so that match is seemingly up in the air.

Only time will tell whether Jay White will make his way to Vince McMahon’s company, which was a possibility back in 2021. We’ll keep you updated on Switchblade’s pro wrestling future right here at Ringside News.
