Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out in the middle of Raw last year, which led to a plethora of changes over the past several months. Banks is truly done with WWE and is looking towards greener pastures – which is exactly what her imminent NJPW debut is all about. That being said, it seems Banks’ NJPW deal caught people off-guard in WWE.

As previously reported, Sasha Banks is set to attend the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event in Tokyo Dome on January 4th, 2023. Naturally, Banks became the talk of the town after rumors of her impending NJPW debut spread.

According to Fightful’s paywall, Sasha Banks’ deal with NJPW caught some of the WWE writers off-guard. This is despite the fact that the agreement was made in November.

One writer even believed Banks would return by The Royal Rumble, but that’s not happening anymore. Banks has already thanked Vince McMahon and WWE for everything. We’ll have to see how Banks will fare in NJPW, as Wrestle Kingdom 17 is just a few hours away.
