Before starting AEW a couple of years ago, Kenny Omega was a big deal in Japan. He was known as NJPW’s best bout machine. His wars with Kazuchika Okada are regarded as some of the best matches in the history of professional wrestling.

When Kenny Omega recently announced his return to NJPW to challenge Will Ospreay, fans were excited. This is because these two megastars will put on a great match and Kenny also has legit heat with Ospreay since the two have been taking shots at each other for several years.

Fightful Select has since learned from Rocky Romero that Kenny Omega forecasted his NJPW return before it was done deal. Kenny Omega did an interview with Fightful where he was pushing an angle with Will Ospreay. Rocky noted that the deal hadn’t happened at the time and the conversation took place after the interview. Rocky Romero also mentioned that NJPW worked with Barry Bloom on making this happen.

Romero also informed Fightful that he speaks with Tony Khan frequently and filled him in on what was going on with WWE and NJPW. He also mentioned that Tony was cool about it.

“We reported previously about NJPW and WWE working together to get Karl Anderson on Wrestle Kingdom, but now we’ve learned about AEW’s knowledge.

Rocky Romero told Fightful that he speaks with Tony Khan quite frequently, and filled in Khan about what was going on with WWE and NJPW, and said Khan isn’t shy about asking either. He said that Tony Khan understood why it was happening and cool about it.

Kenny Omega is finally returning to NJPW, and Romero said that he believes Omega forecast his return to NJPW before it was even a done deal. With him being sidelined from Forbidden Door, Omega did an interview with Fightful and started pushing an angle with Will Ospreay. Romero said he doesn’t think that a deal was in place at the time for Omega to return, and he was thinking ahead, but then the conversation happened. Romero also said that the Brawl Out suspension caused a pause because nobody knew what was going to happen. Romero said that NJPW worked with Barry Bloom on making this happen, as well as the Chris Jericho deal when he was in NJPW.

Elsewhere, Rocky Romero put over Scott D’Amore heavily for helping bridge the gap between NJPW and IMPACT after years, as well. He said AXS will be a big part of NJPW moving forward,” per Fightful Select.

Kenny Omega will wrestle Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 17. If their past bouts are any indication then this match promises to be banger. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more coverage of Wrestle Kingdom.
