John Cena is coming back for one episode of SmackDown on December 30th. His appearance already drove ton of ticket sales, and WWE wants to make the most they can out of Cena.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that there are “discussions within WWE and even plans to integrate John Cena into upcoming episodes of Smackdown even before he arrives.” It was also noted that, “some of the discussions included a “video presence” of some sort, but the extent of that wasn’t known.”

It was confirmed to us by WWE sources that was one of the several things that were teased to hype up Smackdown this week. We’re told the Cena appearance is to be promoted heavily over the next two weeks and that they wanted to make the December 30 show “must watch.”

John Cena has a very busy schedule with his Hollywood commitments. That being said, a WWE return of any kind needs to be worked into a lot of moving pieces.

We’ll have to see what happens, but as Ringside News exclusively reported, John Cena did receive Vince McMahon’s blessing to do as much as he can with WWE after his retirement.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
