Chris Jericho is truly veteran in the pro wrestling business, and his contributions to the industry can never be understated. This is because he is very selfless when it comes to putting over numerous talent throughout his career. The Wizard did the same on Dynamite this week when he put over Action Andretti. In fact, there was a good reason why he put over Action Andretti as well.

The former ROH World Champion duked it out with Action Andretti on this week’s show in one-on-one action. Many fans assumed it was going to be a regular squash, with Jericho coming out on top.

However, the impossible happened as Action Andretti ended up defeating Chris Jericho in competitive match. While speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Chris Jericho saw Action Andretti as a future star and wanted to put him over. In fact, the match was planned weeks in advance.

“The story behind this is that Action Andretti had a match on one of the streaming shows (Dark) against QT Marshall, and Chris Jericho was watching the match, and decided at that moment, ‘This guy’s gonna be a star’.

And so he decided that he was going to make him a star. This was way back, he had all this stuff to do, the Claudio feud, these other matches… This match on this date, this was not something where it was decided like yesterday. This was weeks and weeks and weeks ago.”

Tony Khan confirmed Andretti’s AEW signing following his massive upset victory over The Ocho. We will have to wait and see whether Action Andretti will become a huge star like Jericho believes he will in the future. For the time being, Andretti is on cloud 9.
