It’s been 2 weeks since Nick Aldis gave his notice to leave the NWA. This came as a shock to many, because he was considered the face of the wrestling promotion. Aldis has been a loyal member of the promotion NWA ever since he made his debut in 2017. He recently spoke about how his chances have affected his chances at AEW.

The 2-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion has established himself as an integral part of NWA. When asked previously about any chances of him working for AEW, he denied any interest in working for the company. His reasons for not jumping ship stemmed from his loyalty to NWA and his desire to build the company up.

It seems he has come to regret that decision over the past few years. In an interview with Wrestling Inc, Nick Aldis spoke about his loyalty to NWA over the years and how it cost him an opportunity with AEW.

“Well, I thought that it was well known at this point that I had talked to [AEW CEO Tony Khan] very early on, and there’s a lot more to it than people know. Essentially, I wanted to go, but I also wanted to wait until I had got the NWA to a point where I felt like they could function effectively. And by the time that came around, again, the relationship between Tony and Billy had changed. And I probably should have reached out sooner and had my own direct communication, instead of trusting what was being told to me about what was potentially coming up down the road. I’ll just say that.”
