Chris Jericho is a veteran in the pro wrestling business, and he is universally respected for a good reason. Jericho has competed in many promotions all over the world throughout his career, which has spanned more than 30 years. Chris Jericho is also “not Triple H’s biggest fan,” but one match on RAW forever altered how he perceived the WWE Hall of Famer.

Jericho recalled defeating Triple H and Steve Austin to win the WWF Tag Team Championship on the most recent episode of the Talk is Jericho podcast. Jericho dubbed the match a “classic moment in pro wrestling history.” A large part of that is down to Triple H persevering despite one of the worst injuries he’s ever had.

The finish of the match was going to be that a bunch of different things happen. I end up hitting Austin with the Lionsault, Triple H comes in with a sledgehammer, I move, he hits Austin with the sledgehammer, I take Triple H out, Benoit does a diving head butt, 1-2-3, we win, and this was going to be our coronation to the next level. But then Triple H tore his quad moments before going into the end of the match.

Suddenly he’s gone. And when that happens, you know ‘uh oh, something’s not right here,’ because these are four pros amongst pros, you don’t forget spots or you don’t do stuff. I went onto the floor and he’s just laying there, not even screaming, he’s there saying like, ‘I think I tore my quad.’ And I was like, ‘What?!’

I am not Triple H’s biggest fan, but this guy earned my eternal respect by just how tough he was to go through that.

Jericho questioned Triple H on his desire for The Walls of Jericho, and Triple H firmly said, “Yes!” As I flipped him over onto the table, Jericho said, “I just remember hearing this “Ahh!” – this real grunt of true pain.” After pushing past the finish line and moving to the rear, they learned that Triple H would miss six months of action.

We’ll have to see if Chris Jericho and Triple H ever work together in the same company again. If anything, we know that The Wizard respects The Game.

What do you think of what Jericho said? Sound off in the comments!
