WWE is gearing up for the future, and they have a few brands to maintain at this point. Fans of NXT have a lot to be excited about, and a new gimmick match is coming their way soon enough.

Trademark filing paperwork was uncovered recently that showed WWE registered a new trademark for Survivor Challenge. There was speculation that this could be the name of a new show, but anything was on the table considering the wide scope of the filing.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that the Survivor Challenge match is actually set to be a gimmick match on the NXT brand. No further details about this new match concept were revealed.

The working plan for the Iron Survivor Challenge is a new match type that is slated for the NXT brand. Details are nearly nonexistent as of now, but we’re told it may have some “scramble” element to it. We’ve also been told there are other “unique” elements that have been pitched for it.

It was also reported that it was “heavily implied that this would be what Shawn Michaels announces on NXT on November 15th, but that was far from confirmed to us.” We will have to see what HBK has to say tonight on NXT, but December 10th’s Deadline event could provide a landing pad for this new gimmick match.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
