Paul Heyman has honed a great eye for creative direction through his leadership of ECW, work as the lead writer for WWE SmackDown, appointment as the executive director of WWE RAW, and other roles. He recently described Zayn as ‘catalyst’ for character development of others in The Bloodline and called him a perfect storm. Heyman now claims that Zayn brought out ‘different personas’ within The Bloodline.

Heyman still offers his knowledge to the surrounding talent in the backstage area despite being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ on-screen special counsel right now. Heyman recently revealed his formula for “fascinating television” in an interview with WWE’s After The Bell.

New superstars, new talents, new personas, new characters to mix in with those that we care about. Sami Zayn in the Bloodline, a perfect example of a catalyst that has now revealed multiple layers of the different personas within The Bloodline. Sami Zayn has brought out a completely different wrinkle of the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. You’ve seen a completely different side of the Tribal Chief.

Zayn has successfully negotiated his way into the powerful Bloodline group on SmackDown over the previous few months, receiving the title of “Honorary Uce” in the process. According to Heyman, the addition of Zayn has helped the Usos reach new heights by revealing a stark difference in personality between the brothers.

In addition, Zayn has become particularly close to their brother Solo Sikoa, whose tough façade frequently cracks when he interacts with Zayn. Recent examples include Zayn’s ability to make Reigns laugh during a promo for The Bloodline on the October 28th episode of SmackDown, which nobody of his prior adversaries or friends had been able to do in a long time.

Heymans thinks WWE started recent streak of “great programming” and “great booking” with “the emergence of a star named Sami Zayn” You can listen to the full episode of the podcast below.
