Seth Rollins is the WWE United States Champion, but he got the night off at Crown Jewel. The former Shield member did not even travel to Saudi Arabia, but that didn’t stop a report from coming out that claimed he would be on the show.

Xero News reported that U.S. Open Challenge would be a part of WWE Crown Jewel. This was never announced by the company, and did not transpire in Riyadh. Still, the Twitter account sent out a notice to their followers that said, “The Rollins Open Challenge is still on and will be treated as a ‘Surprise Unannounced Open Challenge.'”

Ringside News asked around about this “report” and we were told it is “fake news.” In fact, a tenured source on the WWE creative team informed us that, “Rollins was always supposed to have this weekend off. He was never in any plans for the Crown Jewel show. More fake news and clickbait.

Fans in Saudi Arabia would have loved to see Seth Rollins, as Mrsool Park filled with a sing-along to his entrance music. That did not transpire, because there was no validity to the report that The Visionary would be there.

WWE’s Crown Jewel event was a long one, and they didn’t need a U.S. Title match on the show. Seth Rollins got to enjoy some downtime while the rest of the roster took a trip to Saudi Arabia, and there was never any talk of him making that journey this time around.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
