The AEW media scrum on September 4th changed many things in AEW. CM Punk lashed out and took shots at many within the AEW roster. The tension spilled out into skirmish between Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite.

AEW suspended those who were in the fight as well as those who intervened to break up the fight. While those who participated in the fight are still suspended, some stars are no longer suspended.

Bryan Alvarez revealed this on Wrestling Observer Live, first detailing that everyone who was part of the skirmish, both directly and indirectly, got suspended without any further directives.

Everybody involved, including those breaking up the fight, ended up being suspended by AEW. Essentially they were sent home and no one heard anything. No contact between AEW and anybody that was sent home. They were all just sitting there. No idea what’s going on, just sitting.

Alvarez further added that while he doesn’t know everyone who is no longer suspended. However, those who tried to break off the fight, including Brandon Cutler, are now free to come back. He said that the investigation is successful in clearing them off the radar.

As of today, I don’t know everybody who is off suspension. But I believe that everybody who was involved in breaking up the fight is now off suspension. I know that Pat Buck is off suspension, Brandon Cutler is off suspension and I think some other people were called today and they’re off suspension. So right now, to the best of my knowledge, and there may be phone calls being made right now for all I know. I believe that if you were involved in breaking it up, you are off suspension. But if you were actually involved in the fight…you are still on suspension. The good news is the investigation has continued to the point where they are now taking people off suspension but everybody else who is still suspended is still in the dark…

CM Punk, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Ace Steel are still under suspension. We’ll have to see if Ace Steel and CM Punk ever return.

While it may be a while for them to resurface, the investigation into the matter is finally sorting out the internal tensions of the company in a positive way.
